Jessie Homer French "TWO DEGREES CELSIUS?"

Artist's Opening Reception

Saturday, January 16th, 5pm - 8pm.

Gallery 169 is proud to present "TWO DEGREES CELSIUS?" new works by Jessie Homer French.

Jessie Homer French was born in New York in 1940. Over the last five decades, with little formal training, Jessie has developed her own regional narrative style. She has had many solo exhibitions at Los Angeles and Victoria, BC galleries. Her work has also been featured in numerous group shows here in California and in Canada. She has been profiled in print and on television.

Many of her paintings are permanently displayed in government buildings, hospitals, and hotels, and are also part of scores of private collections. About the paintings on display at gallery 169 Jessie states the following:

"These fire paintings, hung at eye level, are mostly horizontally long and vertically short as if seen from a military pillbox with shooting slit windows. Seeing all the fires of the last years on TV I felt as though I was in that pillbox watching the world burn. Global Warming - will it stop at 2 degrees Celsius?"

"TWO DEGREES CELSIUS?" will be on view at Gallery 169 from January 16th - February, 2016.

Complimentary valet parking available the night of the opening.
